Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has been receiving a backlash from various citizens including political parties with the EFF being the latest to lash out at him.

Premier Lesufi went on Twitter earlier this week to announce a supposed partnership between the province and Netherlands beer company Heineken.

“Today, we received a full briefing to launch taverns of the future in our communities. The tavern of the future will blow your mind. Thanks to the new Heineken Vision. Exciting times indeed” read Lesufi’s tweet.

Lesufi has over been one of the prominent people to speak out against the consumption of alcohol saying it does not build anything but instead destroys families mostly in the townships. As a result people were surprised by the sudden change of views/ideas when he announced the supposed new deal which he in short said it will benefit more people in the townships with job opportunities.

EFF leader Julius Malema is the latest person to lashoyt it him saying it seems like Lesufi is encouraging people to get drunk.

“Alcohol should be used for refreshment, what are you refreshing when you just woke up and unemployed?”
