Learner (16) raped while preparing for an exam paper in Mpumalanga

Mpumalanga Education says they are saddened by the recent news of a 16 years old learner who was raped in school hours before writing an exam.
The statement by the Department says that the incident allegedly occurred at KwaManala Secondary School, in Vaalbank, Libangeni circuit under Dr JS Moroka local Municipality on Friday, November 17th.
“It is alleged that the incident happened at around 06H00 when the learner arrived at the school to do some revision for the paper she was supposed to write at 09H00.”
“According to the report from the school, when the learner arrived at school the gate was slightly open, she then walked in with an intention to go and revise before writing her examination paper.”
The statement also said that the learner managed to escape and reported the matter to the police at Vaalbank Police Station.
A case of sexual assault has been opened and police are currently looking for the suspect. The department urges anyone who may have valuable information to contact the Vaal Bank Police station.
