Former Minister comes back as the new National Assembly Speaker

Former Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development Minister Thoko Didiza has been elected as the new National Assembly Speaker of the 7th administration.
Didiza was voted in the first parliamentary sitting on June 14th going up against the EFF’s Veronica Mente.
Didiza received 284 votes while Mente only got 49 votes.
A total of 341 were counted votes, 8 spoilt votes and 1 invalid vote.
