South African National Defence Force (SANDF) Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula scored an own goal this time by giving her ANC comrades a lift to Zimbabwe in an SANDF jet.

This saw the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) calling for her suspension for abusing state resources.

“In an act reminiscent of the infamous Gupta Waterkloof landing, a delegation of civilians from the ANC used a military aircraft to conduct party business in Zimbabwe. They were aided by the Minister of Defence Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula in gross abuse of state resources,” said the party in a statement.

They also accused the ANC of using state resources as their piggy bank.

“It is a slippery slope when military apparatus is used by a political party to further its interests and relations with other political parties. As a country, we will reap the consequences of this abuse of military power the day the ANC is confronted with the loss of political power.”

Minister Nqakula have also been accused of using the military jet to allegedly fetch her son’s girlfriend in Burundi back in 2016.
