In just less than 24 hours of the City of Johannesburg speaker has been elected, Colleen Makhubele had, on Thursday, already agreed to have the council sitting for the motion of no confidence against DA member and the city’s mayor Dr Mpho Phalatse.
Perhaps one might say this was pretty clear from onset that parties wanted to get rid of the DA in leadership when the council decided to first boot former speaker Da Gama in August when the talks between coalitions collapsed on allegations of the DA not wanting to listen to other parties.
Now Dr Phalatse seems to be next in line to be kicked out of office through a motion of no confidence.
Dr Phalatse went on social media Thursday afternoon pleading with City of Jo’burg residents to stand and fight with her against what she is criminal syndicates wanting to take over the Municipality through back door.
She said she and her team have done a lot since being elected to be in office in the past few months and it would be sad to see the hard work they have achieved and lot more they want to do being hijacked.
Phalatse and her party, the DA, decided to head to the High Court on Friday morning to an urgent court application asking the court to stop the sitting.
