Former City of Johannesburg Mayor and businessman Herman Mashaba once again cracks a whip at his former political party Democratic Alliance (DA) after two more of the party’s members resigns to join him on his new journey.
The party’s CEO Paul Boughey and Johannesburg region’s chairperson Fuzela Ngobeni both handed in their resignations to join Mashaba.
Ngobeni was MMC for finance in the city of Johannesburg under Mashaba before he resigned as a mayor in the city. He was also announced as the candidate replacement for Mashaba in the city after Mashaba’s resignation late last year.
Which they lost to Geoff Makhubo from the African National Congress (ANC).
The party expressed its after learning about the resignation saying they were caught off guard, resignations came as a surprise to them.
Gauteng Caucus Leader John Moodey said they were shocked saddened to learn about this developments. He said these words speaking to a media house that he learned about this through the media just before seeing the resignations himself.
“I got a call from a media house and I said it must be fake news. Then after I looked at my email and saw that he had handed his resignation,” said Moodey.
Boughey on the other hand said he will be joining Herman Mashaba’s new organisation on consultation basis.
