Bad day for former President Jacob Zuma following court judgement handed down by the High Court in Tshwane setting aside his medical parole.
The matter was brought forward the Democratic Alliance (DA), Hellen Suzman Foundation and AfriForum saying it was wrong former National Commissioner of Correctional Services Arthur Fraser to grant Mr Zuma early medical parole.
The court said the decision must be declared unlawful and set aside.
“It is hereby directed the third respondent be returned to the custody of the department of correctional services to serve out the remainder of his sentence of imprisonment.”
“It is declared the time the third respondent was out of jail on medical parole should not be counted for the fulfilment of the third respondent’s sentence of 15 months imposed by the Constitutional Court” read an extract from the judgement.
Jacob Zuma foundation and both parties involved are yet to comment on the matter.
