The circus and the joke continues to play itself yet again in South African politics, this time in the City of Johannesburg.
This is as minority party Al-Jama’s member Thapelo Ahmad hands over his resignation after being the executive mayor for three months.
The announcement was made on Monday evening and his resignation was well welcomed by Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi who thanked him for his service and said they will be coming up with his replacement soon.
Ahmad’s leadership in the municipality was met with several mixed emotions from both the public and political parties who were of the view that it seemed like he was clueless and was hand kicked to be controlled.
Few weeks ago one of the coalition partners Gayton McKenzie expressed his dissatisfaction with the arrangement saying he wanted to pull out from the arrangement because he felt disrespected mostly by the EFF.
