It is court appearance today of two foreign nationals who were arrested on charges of theft, corruption and incitement on Thursday at Evander taxi rank in Mpumalanga.

Hawks Spokesperson in Mpumalanga Captain Dineo Sekgotodi said that preliminary investigations revealed that an HSC security personnel was approached by an Ethiopian man and told him that he knows him from SPAR and he wanted him to arrange for stock to be stolen from SPAR offering him an initial deal of R250 000.00 in stock in return for R100 000-00 on April 13th.

After agreeing on the deal, the security officer approached his boss who later on reported the matter to the Hawks in Secunda.

“During investigation, the matter was brought before court whereby a sting was authorised and agreement for delivery was arranged to take place at Evander taxi rank on Thursday, 20 April 2023.”

“The agent came driving a Spar delivery truck with the stock valued at R250 000.00 as agreed. The suspect allegedly said that he did not have the whole amount as previously agreed and they agreed that he will only get the stock for the amount which he was having.”

“The suspect told the agent that he only had R10 000.00 and they must give him Ricoffy which they offloaded from the spar delivery truck to his bakkie and money was handed over as payment. The main suspect together with his accomplice were immediately apprehended upon receiving the money” added Captain Sekgotodi.

As a result, Ayela Carbo and Temsngo Gabor aged 47 and 42 respectively were immediately arrested.
