Poor management and the incompetency in the Gauteng Department of Health has saw the department making media headlines for running out of petty things such as bread.

The reports of running out of food items were however denied by the Department but they have admitted to running out of bread especially at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital.

The Hospital’s CEO Dr. Nkele Lesia said they had a problem with the payment to the service who supplies them with bread but the problem has since been resolved hopes bread will be delivered soon.

News network News24 published an article on Thursday where they alleged that staff members at the hospital were forced to gather money so they can buy food for patients because they didn’t have any.

They also alleged thatghey had been struggling with food for the past three weeks.

But Spokesperson in the Department Kwara Kekana dismissed the claims saying it was not true.

“All other types of food are being served at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital. What we can confirm is that the hospital and a few other facilities did experience a short supply of bread in the recent past,” spokesperson Kwara Kekana said.
