Basic Education Minister to Address the Nation on Schools

Department of Basic Education faces tough times as they are still trying to come up with a middle ground with the unions representing teachers and teachers themselves.

It hasn’t been without any criticism lately as the department have been trying to thoroughly engage to see how best can they prepare so they can open as the academic calendar gets left far behind since lockdown.

Unions and opposition parties had advised teachers to not report for duty unless basic procedures to protect staff and learners against Covid-19 are properly followed.

The Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga is set to address the nation today on the possible way forward.
