Yet another disappointment for South Africans as power utility Eskom announces continued load shedding.
The power utility announced stage 2 load shedding that will hit some parts of the country from 5pm until 10pm on Wednesday due to the failure of three generation units.
The Spokesperson for the utility Sikhonathi Mantshantsha said that they had to take two generation units at Hendrina Power Station and one at Matimba Power Station offline for repairs.
This is while on the other hand one generation at Arroy Power Station was returned to service.
“A generation unit at Kusile and Tutuka Power Stations are expected to return to service this afternoon.”
“We currently have 2 329MW on planned mainty, while another 15 988MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns.”
Mantshantsha added that the onset of winter has seen increased demand and this will lead to capacity constraints throughout this period, particularly during the evening and morning peaks.
