State believes more charges could be added on a statutory rape against a councillor at the Matlosana Local Municipality.

The 43 years old Tebogo Sepale is facing multiple charges which includes statutory rape, violation of a child with consent, manufacturing pornographic material, among others.

NPA spokesperson Henry Mamothame said Sepale had his attorney appearing on his behalf as he was absent from court for unknown reasons. As a result the matter was postponed to today, July 7th for formal bail application which state says they plan to oppose.

This is also while they are still waiting for the conclusion on the investigations that could see more evidence being added on the case.

Mamothame said that in one of the cases, the suspect allegedly shared a nude picture of his private parts with the complainant, in the second and separate case, but involving the same suspect, two counts of statutory rape were laid on Saturday 6 May 2023, by the parents of two boys aged 15 and 17.

He will remain in police custody until his next court appearance.
