A life of a young student, 24 years at the Walter Sisulu University (WSU) was lost in a fight with a fellow mate at a resident during a scaffle.

It is alleged that at approximately 20:05 the deceased student was busy cleaning his room at their student residential when another student, the suspect, walked by and made a comment about him using muthi to clean his room.

The deceased got offended by the comments and approached the suspect where an argument ensued but they were shortly separated by fellow mates.

Eyewitnesses to the ordeal then allege that that is when the suspect made a way to his room where he came back with a knife and stood at the door of the deceased’s room.

The deceased then took a scissor to also defend himself. An argument ensued again up until the deceased turned his back against the suspect.

That is when he was stabbed and fell on the ground.

With the help of other students, the suspect then took the deceased to the hospital where he was declared dead at the premises.

The 29 years old suspect was then arrested at the hospital and is expected to make an appearance at the East London Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
