Divisions and double standards in the Governing Party African National Congress (ANC) continue to play out clear in public.

This follows a leaked Integrity Commission document that was circulated to the public which recommended that Secretary General (SG) Ace Magashule steps aside pending criminal charges he is currently facing in court.

This saw certain bodies within the party presenting different views on the matter one of them being that Magashule should remain on his job post and continue with his daily duties pending internal processes.

This was also echoed by the party spokesperson Pule Mabe during a media briefing on Tuesday who said Magashule will wait for the highest decision making structure, National Executive Committee (NEC) to make a ruling.

“The Secretary General remains the SG of the ANC and is expected to do the work that an SG of the ANC is expected to be doing,” Mabe said.

The NEC is set to deliberate on the matter early next year as SG also is set to go to again in February to face his criminal charges.

Mabe also acknowledged the leaking of the document but did not confirm it as the official one to be released at a later stage.

“The NEC of the ANC, at the right time, will engage with reports that come before it, and if the NEC wants to pronounce itself on such reports it shall do so. As matter stands, the NEC of the ANC has not sanctioned the distribution of any report — none whatsoever — but it is aware of the existence of a report from the integrity commission,” Mabe said.
