A case against two suspects who were arrested for the alleged murder of two Soweto boys has been postponed to May for formal bail application.

Nqobile Ndlovu, 50, and her partner Mthunzi Zulu, 39, appeared at the Protea magistrate’s court on Friday after they were arrested by police on Tuesday following a forensic investigation at the boys’ homes.

Making their first court appearance, the case started off on a rocky foot when the suspects initially said they will be representing themselves and also pleaded that the media be denied permission to shoot and publish their pictures.

Presiding over the case, magistrate Tshepiso Maepa however, denied their application and granted the media permission to film saying the reasoning from the suspects was not valid.

On legal representation, they both changed their minds with Ndlovu saying she wants to acquire her own lawyer and while Zulu said he will use legal aid.

They remain in police custody until second appearance on May 5th.

It is also said that Ndlovu is a grandmother to one of the deceased toddlers.
