The North West High Court sitting in Mogwase has handed down a three life sentence to a 49 years old man for the murder of three aged between 48 and 13 years old.

The incident is said to have occurred on 15 August 2019 at Rustenburg Noord where deceased couple, 41 years old Mmusi Ratlotleng and 38 years old Nkagisang Mothopi were sleeping at their rented room when the now convicted Peter Bila doused their room with petrol and set it alight.

Police Spokesperson Captain Aafje Botma said that in the process, the room next to them caught fire as well and where a 13-year-old girl, Angel Chimomo was severely burned.

“The accused was charged with three counts of murder of which he was given life imprisonment for each. He was further sentenced to ten years for arson and five years for malicious damage after two vehicles that were parked outside the house caught fire” said Captain Botma.

It is said that Bila was allegedly in a relationship with the female victim when he found them together inside a house in Rustenburg North and allegedly went into a jealous fit of rage.
