A 24 years old murder suspect is set to remain in police custody for the alleged murder of a nurse.
The deceased nurse, Iris Mamotlakana Mohokare is said to have been discovered by her sister at her rented place of residence on October 12th, gruesomely murdered with her throat cut out.
NPA Spokesperson Henry Mamomthame said subsequent to the discovery of the corpse, police were summoned to the scene at the said rented place at Ipeleng township.
The 25 years old Gregory Shebi became a primary suspect following a revelation by the investigations which pointed to him being the last person be seen not far from the place the corpse discovered.
“The police then started looking for the accused and ultimately arrested him on 15 October 2022. Upon arrival at the police station, and according to preliminary police reports, informed them that he wants to tell the truth.”
“He was subsequently taken in for a confession to be obtained and later took the police to point out where he had thrown away the bloodied clothes he was wearing.”
“According to police reports, the accused alleges he was in the company of another person, but the motive only became clear in the accused person’s confession, that he and another person intended to rob the deceased. He further alleges he is not the one who stabbed the deceased, but it was the person whom he was with.”
Surprisingly so, his confession did not correspond with the evidence by the police that was obtained at the scene which indicates that only one person was at the scene at the time of the commissioning of this offence.
Investigations are still continuing pending another appearance on the 25th. He still in police custody.
