North West Community Safety MEC calls for calm when driving on the roads

North West Community Safety and Transport Management MEC Wessels Morweng has urged motorists to follow the rules and adhere to the laws on the road following the death and injury of people in a head on collision.

The Department in the province released a statement on Saturday were they confirmed that one person died and the other one survived with critical injuries, when a fright truck rolled over on the N12 outside Klerksdorp towards Wolmaranstad in the early hours of Saturday.

It is said according to investigations that the truck collided with a vehicle coming the opposite direction when it  allegedly turned in front of the truck causing the collision.

“National roads needs special attention as lately there are reports of lawlessness but also motorists not adhering to traffic laws. He pleads with motorists especially those travelling at night to be cautious and adhere to road rules.

“We need our motorists to be vigilant at all times and more particularly those traveling at night.”

“Should we observe road rules, at some point we will have an incident free weekend and that will immensely contribute on reducing the number of crashes and deaths on our roads,” said MEC Morweng.
