EFF calls for axing of Eskom CEO & COO

The red berets Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) say they’ve had enough of the incompetence roving around in Eskom failing to deliver what they promised, getting rid of loadshedding.

This follows a press briefing this past Sunday by the CEO and COO, Andre de Ruyter and Jan Oberholzer.

“The incompetence and arrogance of Eskom executives has plunged SA into a perpetual and unwarranted darkness that is killing businesses and livelihoods. The collapse of Eskom and the failure to prove dependable and consistent energy supply are meant to render the country’s electricity utility redundant and useless.”

The party say they have long been warning the country about a plan by the government and leadership in Eskom to destroy the utility bit by bit just to sell it to private establishment at a fraction.

Two months before lockdown in January 2020, the party went on a march to deliver a memorandum to the utility demanding an end to blackouts and finishing to Kusile Power Station.

Years later, they are of the view that it seems as if the leadership doesn’t know what they are doing.

“We call for the firing of the board, CEO, and COO, knowing very well [President] Cyril Ramaphosa’s cowardice will not allow him to take decisive steps.”

“The EFF warns that failure to fire Eskom’s board, CEO, and COO will require us to take more radical steps to ensure competent, dependable and fit people are in charge of Eskom to resolve the energy crisis and bring an end to blackouts that have become a permanent feature of our lives” said the party through a statement.
