A helpless senior citizen aged 94 years lost her teeth after being assaulted by a male and female person during a house robbery at an old age home in Delmas, Mpumalanga.
Police say the said suspects presented themselves as people coming to donate and help the less fortunate people.
Police’s Colonel Donald Mdhuli said that the 94-year-old woman allegedly heard a knock on her door whereupon closer look, she saw two people, a male and female carrying boxes.
“She then opened the door and innocently made coffee for them. Unbeknown to her that they had ulterior motives. The male suspect then abruptly produced a knife, threatened and assaulted the defenceless old woman to a point that she lost some of her teeth.”
He added that the male intruder then held the helpless Granny as the female accomplice turned the house upside down.
They then tied the old woman on the chair as they made off with some of her items and cards leaving to fend for herself.
She was later rescued by the caretaker after having heard her crying for help. Police were notified about the incident and they opened a case of house robbery.
A manhunt for the said suspects has been launched.
