Woman caught with drugs while visiting an inmate

Bethal Magistrates Court has postponed a case against Ms. Lorraine Nomsa Makhubele who was allegedly caught with drugs in her possession earlier this week.
The 36 years old Makhubele was allegedly visiting an inmate at Bethal Correctional Centre, as procedural, a search was before she entered the premises to see the alleged inmate.
A black plastic bag was found in her possession stuffed with about 59 different types of tablets, as well as 20 small plastic bags and other substances including crushed leaves and a plastic bottle containing oil. She was immediately arrested on the scene following the summoning of the police.
She was charged with illegal drug possession. An investigation was further stretched to the inmate the items was destined to.
Upon searching the inmate’s cell, another plastic bag containing dagga was found and he was also charged with illegal drug possession and is set to appear in court soon.
While the inmate awaits court appearance, Makhubele made her first court appearance a day later after being apprehended on September 28, and the matter was postponed to 05 October 2022 for a formal bail application meanwhile she is remanded in custody.
