“We need VAR now, this is madness”
Estimated reading time: 4 minute(s)
Just after failing to secure a win in the last two consecutive matches in the first half on 2025\26 PSL season, Amakhosi opened the second half of the season with three points against Lamontville Golden Arrows to secure the second position on the log with 27 points.
Two points behind the log leaders and title defenders Mamelodi Sundowns.
All thanks to the defender Aden McCarthy who scored a near miss header goal in the 39th minute to register his first ever goal with the senior team.
Despite several attacks from Arrows, they were not strong enough to go past keeper Brandon Peterson who continues with his clean sheet.
However, the goal did not sit well with coach Manqoba Mngqithi who argued that the goal was not supposed to be allowed because it was an offside.
He was furious after the game saying if PSL does not move fast in introducing VAR, the quality of the league is going to be compromised because clubs are losing games on silly minor mistakes.
He also added that certain things cannot be blamed on the referees because they also needed technological assistance.
Sitting in the 10th position, Arrows is also preparing themselves to face Stellenbosch on the 27th.
This is as Amakhosi gets ready to resume with the CAF Confederation Cup competition against Zesco United in Zambia on Sunday.
