Uncle mistakenly kills a 5 months old baby

An altercation between a teenage mother and her uncle led to the unfortunate death of five months old baby boy after suffering from severe injuries, allegedly at the hands of the uncle.
Police Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda Funani said that the incident allegedly took place this past Saturday at Extension 4, Kgakala Township in Leeudoringstad.
An argument ensued between the said young mother and her uncle who then left the house and went outside.
Upon returning he came back with a spade in an attempt to hit the teenager, but he ended up allegedly assaulting the infant carried by the mother.
“The baby was taken to a local clinic where he was transported to Wolmaransstad Hospital and ultimately transferred to Tshepong Hospital where he died due to head injuries” said Funani.
The 38 years old uncle, Lazarus Chaka Hambone was arrested.
It was discovered during his appearance at Leeudoringstad Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday that he is a parolee on a murder case that occurred in 2011.
The case was postpone to November 16 for formal bail application which the state says it will oppose.
