The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula has commended Pinetown police for a successful arrest of two suspect alleged to have been involved in a robbery on the highway.
It is said according to statement by the police that two vehicles were delivering cellphones and bank cards driving on the M13 highway towards St Johns Avenue, when they were approached by four men driving a quantum.
One of the four men then approached the driver of the vehicle, shootout then ensued when the security guards who were escorting the vehicles approached these four men.
Police were called to the scene and one of the suspects was arrested whilst hiding in the bushes and the second suspect was arrested five kilometres away from the scene.
The stolen goods were recovered and the quantum was seized.
They are set to appear at Pinetown Magistrates Court soon on charges of attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
