Taxi drivers retaliate following murder of one of their own

The police in the North West have condemned an act of retaliation by taxi drivers following a murder of one of their own outside Klerksdorp.

It is said that 27 and 33 years old Katlego Sehloho and Mzikayise Qala, respectively had an argument over a cell phone where Sehloho ended up taking a knife and stabbed the taxi driver Qala and immediately left the scene leaving the victim to die by himself.

He was confirmed dead upon arrival at the nearby hospital.

Sehloho’s whereabouts were traced by the taxi drivers after gathering and they fetched him at the place of hiding where they assaulted and set him alight, leading to his death.

Subsequent to the mob justice incident, police managed to arrest one suspect, aged 42. He is due to appear in the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 17 October on murder charges.
