Suspects Arrested on a Mission to Rob Post Office

Police confirm an arrest of eight suspects who were on a mission to rob a post office in Limpopo that was supposed to pay Sassa grants beneficiaries.

Officials say the arrest came as a result of a tipoff they received on a planned move to rob the post office.

An operation was conducted by members of Crime Intelligence and the Tactical Response Team (TRT) Unit assisted by a police helicopter and a Ford Ranger was spotted to be suspicious with three occupants inside.

One of the occupants got out of the vehicle between Atok and gaSelepe and pointed a firearm at police officials. He was shot and disarmed on scene.

Further operation led to arrest of five other suspects in a Toyota Quantum and a firearm was found in their possession.

These suspects, aged between 24 and 40 are set to appear in Sekhukhune Magistrate’s court on Friday 05 June 2020, on charges of Conspiracy to commit armed robbery and possession of illegal firearms and ammunition.
