Suspects accused of stealing railway property remain in police custody

Mpumalanga Hawks confirm an arrest of a second suspect Samuel Mngomezulu in connection with the stealing of Metrorail property.

The 40 years old Mngomezulu’s arrest follows the 33 years old Thulani Rodrico Khumalo’s apprehension. He was the first to be arrested on the scene on September 7th at Baromal Railway station while stealing railway lines.


Mngomezulu escaped the scene using a company car but later on escaped on foot after colliding into a wall, leaving his accomplice behind.

Both suspects were denied bail after making an appearance at eMalahleni Magistrates Court on September 25 and still remains in police custody pending further investigations.

They are due to reappear on November 4th.
