State Capture Inquiry to Resume end of June

Commission of Inquiry Into State Capture Chairperson Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo says although they would like to resume with testimonies, they want to first make sure they follow proper procedures.

He said this during a media briefing yesterday on an update about the commission and on what date are they expected to resume.

“There is no reason why we should not be able to resume hearings, either in the last week of June or the first week of July. We are going to make preparations to do that,”

“There needs to be some clarity with regards to the witnesses that we may want to bring to the commission to give evidence; and if they come from other provinces and not from Gauteng and not metropolitan areas that needs some attention and the issue of investigators when they travel to other provinces” says Zondo.

He added that the Covid-19 pandemic has disturbed their plans and has negatively affected how they operate.
