They were supposed to go for promotional playoffs but were instead a no show to several games.

In-turn, KZN based soccer team Royal AM decided to rather opt for a different route by buying status.

It was said according to a letter from the PSL to both teams that the sale of the Premier Division status of Bloemfontein Celtic to Royal AM was approved.

“The application to approve the transfer of the football club known until now as Bloemfontein Celtic Football Club from the seller to the acquirer, [and the related approvals in respect of a name change (to Royal AM FC) and relocation (to Chatsworth Stadium)] served before the executive committee today.

“The executive committee considered the application and supporting documentation against the requirements of article 14 of the NSL Handbook.”

“The transfer has been approved on the basis sought … ” read parts of the letter.

Although both teams are yet to release a formal communicae, various media reports suggests that the club status was bought for R 50million and the Celtic owner was also eager to sell the club taking into consideration the debt they find themselves in.
