Things get off to a dramatic theatrics yet again at the High Court in Pretoria against Rivers of Living Waters Ministries leader Bishop Zondo.

Zondo has been charged with several counts of rape with cases having been opened against him by some of his church members including a family member who said Zondo allegedly raped her in 1980.

With the aim of the trial starting as scheduled before, Zondo made a brief appearance on Monday to have his case postponed for the second time after firing his legal representatives.

Initially Zondo asked for six months postponement having newly appointed a legal representative, however, presiding over the case Judge Peet Johnson instead refused to grant the requested lengthy postponement and gave a shorter postponement saying it would be enough for preparation.

The matter was postponed to September 14.

Allegations against Zondo

It is said that Zondo allegedly raped an adult woman in a hotel in Johannesburg. In 2013 and 2015, he allegedly raped two more women in Evaton. It is alleged that one of the women was raped on two different occasions.
In December 2015, he allegedly raped another woman in his church in Johannesburg.

He is also accused of offering R 25 000 to one of the victims to drop the case.
