Patient assaults nurse after calling for medical attention

While health practitioners work on prioritizing health and safety of citizens, their safety continues to be compromised on daily basis on and off duty.

A recent incident of a pregnant nurse who got attacked while on duty occurred on April 19th at Relela clinic from a patient who was demanding a medical attention the victim while she was attending to another patient.

Police Spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said that preliminary investigation into the incident suggests that the 30-year-old suspect entered the clinic and demanded medical attention from the nurse who was attending to other patients.

While waiting for the nurse, the suspect went on to physically attack the female nurse.

Colonel Ledwaba said that the suspect was positively identified as Promise Lebepe and he fled the scene not after assaulting the nurse.

While a manhunt for him has been activated, the police are calling on him to rather hand himself over to avoid making matters worse for him.

Acting Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Major General Jan Scheepers has also ordered the mobilisation of resources into his arrest and further called on community members to report to the nearest police station if they locate him.
