Soweto giant Orlando Pirates confirms the appointment of a new head coach, Josef Zinnbauer from German on a three years contract reliving Rhulani Mokwena from his duty as an interim coach since the departure of Micho Sredojevic.
Mokwena who have been an assistant coach for Pirates is said to return to his position as soon as Zinnbauer’s work permit is completed.
Orlando Pirates’ Chairman Irvin Khoza said in a statement that Zinnbauer brings a wide range of experience to the team and hopes that the newly appointed coach is able to hit the ground running.
The team haven’t doing well lately on the log having lost 4 games, drawn 5 times and only won 4 games out of 13 matches played. They are currently sitting on 17 points on the 6th position and also haven’t won any trophy in five years.
“It is a fine balancing act that goes beyond the all important technical skills. A coach is tasked to win through others” said the Chairman.
Zinnbauer welcomed the appointment and said he hopes to bring the team back to its winning ways under his leadership.
