The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) say they have noted the decision by the High Court of South Africa in the Western Cape Division to find former State Security Minister Bongani Bongo not guilty of bribery.
Minister was accused of having offered a bribery to senior parliamentary legal adviser Ntuthuzelo Vanara in October 2017.
This was allegedly as he was due to start leading evidence at the parliamentary portfolio committee for public enterprises’ inquiry into state capture at power utility Eskom, in exchange for his co-operation in collapsing the enquiry.
The NPA said they will study the judgment before considering its options.
The court granted Mr Bongani Bongo his Section 174 application and found him not guilty on a charge of corruption.
