Court appearance today of three senior officials in various law enforcement agencies at Pretoria Magistrates Court.
The 45 years old Lieutenant Colonel from the Specialized Crime Unit, Hawks, 51 years old HOD in the Mpumalanga Human Settlement Department and 52 years old National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) senior official were arrested by the Hawks on fraud and contravention of the Immigration Act.
Police Spokesperson Colonel Katlego Mogale said that charges are based on an alleged act where the accused Lieutenant Colonel was allegedly paid a gratification of R 28 000.00 of R 100 000.00 as a reward to get a certain case withdrawn.
The matter was thoroughly investigated by the Hawks after it was reported at their head office.
A senior NPA member in Mpumalanga then intervened in an attempt to get the same case withdrawn and offered R 5000.00 gratification and an 18 years old Glenfiddich Scotch Whiskey.
