The case against Mpumalanga Department of Health HOD Jabulani Rolland Nkosi has been postponed to April 20, 2022 following a brief appearance at Nelspruit Magistrates’ Court this Friday afternoon.

NPA Spokesperson in the area Monica Nyuswa said that the 58 years old Nkosi was arrested by Hawks on the same day for Contravention of Public Finance Management Act 1 of 1999.

It is alleged that in May 2020, the accused was employed as the acting HOD for the Department of Education, where he did not follow a proper procurement process for the aqcuisition of protective personal equipment for Covid-19, resulting in the department suffering a loss of almost R22 million.

Nyuswa added that Nkosi was released on R 10 000 on condition that he does not interfere with State witnesses and that he reports to IO (Investigating Officer) when he leaves the province.

The matter is set to be transferred to the regional court.
