In preparation for the next national elections in 2024 Action SA leader Herman Mashaba to continues to recycle leaders and his former colleagues in his previous political home, Democratic Alliance (DA).
In just weeks after making an announcement of poaching former Midvaal Mayor Bongani Baloyi, Mashaba has now announced the recruiting of former Nelson Mandela Bay Mayor Athol Trollip to help build a strong alternative on the ballot.
Making an official announcement of this move, Mashaba said above all, Action SA is committed in building a capable state that will take South Africa to new greater heights.
“This announcement is one that engenders pride for ActionSA. It represents the ongoing effort of building a deeper leadership team and diversifying ActionSA’s brand.”
“The significance of this moment lies in its intent to build leadership in the 9 provinces of our country that can activate our structures ahead of the all important 2024 national and provincial election. After meeting our structures in the Eastern Cape yesterday, it is clear that our teams are raring to go and are very pleased to work under Athol’s leadership.”
Mashaba also said that one of the most common things they share as both leaders in their own perspective, is the mission to remove the African National Congress (ANC) from the power position they hold.
“Much of what makes Athol an asset to ActionSA and the project we are embarking upon cannot be contained in a resume. Athol is a brave South African that I came to respect immediately when I met him. He is principled and honest and one of those rare type of people in politics who says what he means and means what he says.”
