A murder case against a 36 years old woman who assaulted her nephew for allegedly stealing her money has been postponed.
Making a brief appearance, Andile Aalivirah Mthembu from Tsakane, abandoned her bail application at Tsakane District Court.
It is said that Mthembu told her 14 years old son to hold the 16 years old deceased nephew as she was assaulting him with a stick to death.
In court, Mthembu confessed in front of Magistrate Nico Venter in his chambers that she indeed committed the alleged offences because the nephew had admitted to stealing money from her.
NPA Spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana said Mthembu was arrested after her sent pictures of the deceased to the relatives in KZN. They informed the police about the matter and she was apprehended.
The matter was postponed to 12 April 2022, for further investigation and to be transferred to the Regional Court.
She is facing charges of murder and defeating the ends of justice.
