Limpopo Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba expressed gratitude and appreciation to the leaders of the biggest church in Southern Africa, ZCC after administering their vaccination late this week.
Dr Ramathuba said she is overwhelmed to see that leaders of the biggest churches in this part of Africa are showing unreserved support to the government for fighting Covid-19 and she trusts and believes that many will follow having seen such leaders responding to the government’s plea for people to vaccinate.
Bishop Barnabas Lekganyane and St Engenas Zion Christian Church Bishop Joseph Lekganyane, were vaccinated at the Pietersburg Hospital in Polokwane.
The church has over 15 million members with some of them being from other African countries and European countries.
“What I’m going to tell my colleagues and other MECs is that their vaccination sites are going to be full to capacity now after they have seen his grace Bishop Lekganyane getting vaccinated.”
“We know you have been supporting us from day one when we fought Covid-19, taking that leadership to say we are making history and won’t go to the church, painful as it is to many of us. But you did that for the love of your people.”
“If there is anyone who doubted the love you have for us, today they must see you indeed love us,” Ramathuba said.
Both leaders were also joined by their wife’s who also seemed delighted to show support to the government.
