Investigator involved in Thabo Bester case dies

Police have confirmed the death of one of the investigators in the controversial “Facebook” rapist Thabo Bester case.

In a statement released by the police, it is said that the said officer is also a Head of Organised Crime in the Free State.

The circumstances surrounding his death is subject to investigation and the police have asked for space regarding the matter until further notice.

“The SAPS management wishes not to discuss this matter in the public domain at this early stage. In-house Employee Health and Wellness experts, including chaplains, have been dispatched to provide psychosocial services to the family and colleagues of the deceased member. The National Commissioner of the SAPS, General Fannie Masemola, described the member as a hardworking, loyal and dedicated detective with 31 years of service,” said Brigadier Athlenda Mathe.

The matter against Bester, Dr Nandipha Magudumana and her father, Sekeleni has been postponed until June 20.
