The ANC PEC in Gauteng has put to rest allegations of the newly elected leadership in the Province pushing Premier David Makhura to resign.
Addressing the media presser on Sunday, Makhura said he does not want to be yet another former leader in the Province to leave the party in chaos at the time when they need each other the most.
“I haven’t threatened the leadership with a resignation. I haven’t written a resignation to put it through to them. They haven’t asked for me to resign. They haven’t taken a decision to recall me…” David Makhura.
“I did make it clear to them, I’m not resigning. I’m not about to submit a resignation. But I want to hand over properly” he added.
Makhura also said that he has appointed Lesufi to act as the Premier for the next two weeks while he will be away on his trip to German.
Lesufi said there is no way they would push Premier Makhura to resign when they do not have an alternative.
Makhura has been Gauteng Premier since 2014 after taking over from his predecessor Mme Nomvula Mokonyane.
