A 39 years old woman has finally gotten justice for the gruesome ordeal that occurred to her four years ago at her most vulnerable moment with someone she knew.
The incident is said to have occurred on December 1st, 2018 when the victim was on her way home from Eric’s Pub in Pretoria Central when she came across a homeless man Nkosinathi Seepe whom she knew through affiliation.
Hearing that the victim was hungry, the 37 years old convict offered to accompany the her. As they on their way, he then started assaulting the victim before dragging her to his tent near Bosman station where he raped her.
“The victim called the police when Seepe had gone out however, Seepe managed to escape and fled the scene.”
“In March 2020, the victim had gone back to the same club with her sister, when she saw Seepe and immediately called the police and Seepe was arrested the same day.”
This is according to NPA Spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana who added that Seepe had been in custody ever since his arrest after NPA successfully opposed the bail application.
Prosecutor Sifiso Hlongwane asked the court not to be lenient when imposing a sentence since Seepe was not a first-time offender, and did not learn from his previous sentence of 6 years imprisonment for a similar offence.
He further asked the court to make an example of the Seepe to detour potential offenders from committing similar offences.
Making an appearance at a Magistrates Court in Tshwane, he was handed down a life imprisonment for rape for rape, 15 years for robbery and 3 years for assault. The Magistrate ordered that the sentences run concurrently.
