Elderly woman rescued from kidnapping in Ga-Rankuwa

Police in Tshwane have confirmed an arrest of three suspects aged between 57 and 34 years in the North of Tshwane, Ga-Rankuwa for the alleged kidnapping of an elderly woman who was reported missing.

The collaborative effort between the police from Akasia and Garankuwa including Crime Intelligence unit, Tshwane Flying Squad, Bank Forensic investigation and Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) K9 resulted in the successful rescue of a 50-year-old woman kidnapped in Ga-Rankuwa on March 31 2025.

The police became aware about the victim missing following report of her missing by her son and it was later discovered that funds were withdrawn from the victim’s bank account.Investigations by the police led to two suspects at a house in Karen Park where the victim was also kept.

She was rescued and provided medical treatment before being united with her family.

Police further recovered a white Polo vehicle, allegedly used in the kidnapping.

Investigations continue on the matter.
