The fight to contain the spread of Covid-19 in South Africa is still on going as the country now continues to record five digits daily cases now recording over 8 thousand in the past week to this week.

To add on more problems on the matter, South African Health Products and Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) made an announcement this past weekend that following a report of Johnson and Johnson vaccines being contaminated, they have decided to destroy doses they have as they believe they were among the contaminated batch.

The doses are said to be around 2 million.

This the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) making a threat to March to SAHPRA offices to demand that they approve vaccines from China and Russia, Sinovac and Sputnik V.

The red berets leader Julius Malema said these on June 16 at an anti-racism protest at a school Centurion, Tshwane.

“We want vaccine from China and Russia provided in South Africa. We will then give them 7 days to approve those vaccines. If they fail to we are going to do a sleep-in at the house of the CEO of SAHPRA” he said.

This is also as the country was recently put under level 3 national lockdown by President Matamela Ramaphosa on Tuesday with strict regulations restricting mass gatherings.

But the party leader Malema said that lockdown regulation will stop them from any gathering considering that it is the year of elections.

He said this should also be their time campaign for the upcoming local government elections in October.
