Clinic shutdown in Mpumalanga after six staff members test positive of Covid-19 while a hospital also records 14 cases

Mpumalanga Health MEC confirms that some staff members at Themba Hospital have tested positive of Covid-19.

“14 staff members at the Themba Hospital City of Mbombela have tested positive for COVID-19. The staff members have already been quarantined and decontamination in the affected units is already in progress.”

The MEC has however said that hospital is continuing to operate under strict supervision, but the theater has been temporarily closed.

While on the other hand Siphosembi Community Health Centre (CHC) in Emalahleni have been closed down and as six staff members test positive of Covid-19.

MEC Manzini said it is expected that number of infections would rise taking into consideration the winter season that is upon us.

The department has pleaded with community members who would usually use Siphosembi under normal circumstances to now resort to using Empumelweni CHC for any health care services.
