Businessman arrested after failing to deliver R 1.6m worth of maize meal to DRC

A fraud case against logistics company owner has been postponed to February 2022 for docket disclosure.
The 54 years old Meyerton logistic company owner, Henry Proctor, allegedly into a entered into a business agreement with the complainant to deliver maize in the Republic of Congo for a price of R3.2 million.
This is according to Hawks Spokesperson Captain Ndivhuwo Mulamu who said that a transfer of R 1.6 million was made to the said accused businessman’s bank account but he failed to deliver.
As a result a fraud case was reported to the Hawks’ Special Crimes Unit and an investigation ensued.
“A thorough and extensive investigation revealed that Proctor collected the maize from a farm in Rodekop, Gauteng, as well as in Ogies and Lesly in Mpumalanga, and delivered the consignment at his plot in Meyerton.”
Captain Mulamu added that Proctor was arrested on Wednesday but released on the same day after making a brief appearance and was released on R 5000 bail.
