Police are asking public assistance in locating a 42 years old, Jo-Anne Mantladi Mmela allegedly involved in fraud and theft of Road Accident Fund (RAF) money.

Middleburg based Hawks said the accused was arrested on September 20th, 2022 following thorough investigations into the matter after being made aware. It is said that Mmela was an attorney practicing under Mmela and Associates and was appointed to assist in claiming funds for the child of the complainant.

The claim was successful and the money was paid into Mmela’s Trust account. Instead of paying the money to the client, she directed it into someone else’s account and insisted that she paid the money into the client’s account.

Shortly after being arrested, she was released on R 25 000 bail but failed to appear on December 5th 2022. She has been missing since her first appearance.

“Anyone with information of the whereabouts of Jo-Anne Mmela is requested to contact the investigator on the following numbers: Warrant Officer Zandile Mashaba on 082 303 9880. All information received will be treated with confidentiality” Hawks.
