AmaZulu FC gets the spotlight on them after having receiving player and coach of the moth awards.

Coach Benni McCarthy and Veli Mothwa were announced as recipients of the DStv Premiership monthly awards for Coach of the Month and Player of the Month (March/April) after the club’s near-perfect DStv Premiership record which also saw them emerge Q3 winners last week.

The crowning of the awards to the team also didn’t come as a surprise having lost only five games in the 27 games they have played.

Usuthu said through a statement that McCarthy’s journey began in the month of March with a 1-0 victory over SuperSport United and went on to further triumph in six more games and played to a draw against defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns – the only game they failed to score in out of eight outings. During this period, AmaZulu scored an impressive 13 goals and conceded only twice.

The 43-year-old Usuthu mentor thanked his fellow technical staff members and players upon receiving his accolade.

“For the hard work, the dedication we put in every single day and to be voted by our peers it is always a special moment. We are forever grateful and proud. We will continue to work hard so that we can inspire the next generation of football players, the next generation of coaches but also our colleagues,” McCarthy added.
