Following poor performance of the Soweto soccer giants Kaizer Chiefs for the past 9 seasons, Molefi Ntseki has become the recent head coach to get axed mid-season.
Ntseki who had been in the technical side of the team was appointed as head coach on July 2023 to replace Arthur Zwane who also had a poor run in the past season.
The last straw for the team was the loss against Amazulu this past weekend in the Carling Knockout tournament.
Amakhosi released a statement in the late Monday afternoon hours saying the decision for the departure was a mutual agreement between both parties.
“Given the recent run of disappointing results, the parties agreed that this was the best course of action under the prevailing circumstances.”
He will be replace by Cavin Johnson.
“Cavin Johnson, who recently joined Chiefs as Head of the Youth Development Academy, will take over as the First Team coach on an interim basis. Current assistant coach, Dillon Sheppard will retain his position under Johnson.”
“Assistant Coach, Arthur Zwane will return to his former role within the development structures of the Club.”
“Coach Ntseki arrived at Chiefs in June 2021 as Head of Technical and Youth Development. He took over as the senior team Head Coach in June 2023.”
Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr thanked Ntseki for his services and wished him well.
The departing coach expressed his gratitude to the Chairman, Dr. Kaizer Motaung, and the Board of Directors for the opportunity to coach Amakhosi, and wished the team all the best for the rest of the season.
The team currently sits at the 8th position with 4 losses, 2 draws and 3 wins.
