Absa Group Limited (AGL) today announced the appointment of Aaron Daniel Mminele as Group Chief Executive (GCE) of Absa Group, effective from 15 January 2020.

This also comes after speculations that surfaced mid last year that the former SARB Deputy Governor Daniel Mminele would be resigning as deputy governor for greener pastures.

Mminele is said to be the first African to be appointed for the position at the institution.

Speaking in a statement the institution said Mminele’s set of skills and record makes him a perfect candidate for the post.

“We are delighted to welcome Daniel to the Absa family. He brings with him a deep understanding of the financial services industry both in South Africa and abroad” said Wendy Lucas Bull Chair of the Absa Group Board.

Mminele will be taking over from René van Wyk.
